ABSTRACT
In some way, we are familiar with atomic transitions and their role in optical and ultraviolet emission, but we may not be aware that they also are responsible for radio emission in an important regime where they are used to help us learn about interstellar space. In this talk, we will go into detail on the radio emission mechanisms and their importance in the astrophysical context. Beside of that, the naturally occurring source of stimulated spectral line emission, typically in the microwave portion of the electromagnetic spectrum (Astrophysical MASER) is reviewed.
